We sit down with Michelle Glancy, Director of Human Resources, to talk about just how fast the REACH community has grown.
Can you give us a brief overview of just how many employees HR has helped onboard in the past few months?
Well, in Human Resources, we define our community as all the employees that we serve across the entire REACH footprint – and when you break it down, it’s a big community with a lot of associates.
REACH has REALLY expanded in the past few years and we have been fortunate enough to welcome a lot of new people onboard. In 2015, we added 220 new associates to our team; in the first quarter of 2016 alone, we have hired an additional 67 to the team. We are definitely set to exceed our 2015 growth for sure. It really is amazing how fast this has all happened as you can see in the headcount graph below.
How has this growth affected the little community that is the Human Resources Department? And how does that affect the bigger community that is REACH?
There is no doubt in my mind that this growth has affected my community in the HR department. My team has really stepped it up; they put in some long hours in the past year and they really ramped up their efforts to help get their arms around this expansion. I truly appreciate all of their hard work.
As far as how our growth affects the larger community at REACH, it means that as a whole, we have the opportunity to get to know and work with new professionals that have a shared passion for patient care. It also means that we get to provide life-saving services to new communities that might not otherwise have access to our level of care.
As the Director of HR, how do you and your department work to keep the community feel at REACH?
We continue to look at how we are serving all of our associates and we pay special attention to retaining that high-touch servant-centered approach, not just in HR, but also across REACH as a whole. We are really looking forward to this year and how our community will change.
