State-of-the-Science Communications Center

The communications center at REACH is staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day with highly-trained communication specialists prepared to assist with all details involved in transporting critically ill or injured patients to needed care.

REACH communication specialists are responsible for facilitating direct consultation between sending and receiving physicians; confirming bed availability and patient acceptance with hospitals; arranging necessary related ground ambulance transportation; and following through to keep all parties informed.

Our state-of-the-science communications center was the first in California to implement all-altitude, all-terrain satellite voice and data links. In 2007, REACH implemented the use of SkyTrac Systems’ flight following package. Our communications center has the capability to provide support to aircraft at any distance, whether in the air or on the ground.
